Guilt from hurling a hurtful comment made in the heat of an argument with a loved one:

His gaze was downcast, as though weighted down by the burden of guilt, unable to meet the eyes of his partner. “I am sorry, I shouldn’t have said that. It was in the heat of the moment,” he murmured, his shoulders sagging. However, the damage was already done.
